Mrs. Geneva Gibson, 93 years old formerly of Ridgeland, South Carolina, passed away Monday, June 22, 2020 in North Carolina.
Mrs. Gibson (affectionately called by many “Sister”) as a child attended Lovely Hill Baptist Church with her family and later joined New Zion Baptist Church both in Ridgeland, South Carolina. She was educated in Ridgeland schools before attending Morris College and after graduating from Morris college, with her husband she started a career as a secondary school teacher. Mrs. Gibson taught every grade from pre-K to eighth grade in various school systems in South Carolina.
During Mrs. Gibson adult years she became a member of First Baptist Church, where she served on the Gospel Choir and was an officer and member of the Willing Workers Club. Missionary and charity work was a large part of Mrs. Gibson’s life. She was a meek and humble person with a soft-spoken voice in which she had love to help others and to spread God’s word and His love.
Mrs. Gibson leaves to mourn; her daughter; Brenda D. Gibson (Adolph Simmons, Jr.), two brothers, William H. (Sadie) Clark, Jr. and Glen Dell Clark, two grandsons, Adolph D. Simmons and Andrew G. Simmons, along with a host of relatives and friends.
A Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, July 01, 2020 at Grahamville Cemetery in Ridgeland, South Carolina at 11:00 AM
Considering the COVID-19 Pandemic, it is recommended by the South Carolina Mortician Association, Inc. to encourage families to have a graveside service with a small gathering of family and friends.
